Frequently asked questions

What if I don’t have a computer that has audio and visual capabilities, can I use my iPhone/Android or iPad/Tablet that does?

The software compatability is best with a laptop but yes you can use your iphone or tablet. For best quaility use Google Chrome as your browser. (smart phones and tablets do seem to require refreshing or may require rejoining meeting)

What payment methods are accepted?

Debit or credit card accepted. Paypal, Zelle and Venmo are not accepted.

Could I use any notary online?

Please be advised that most technology providers, including ours, operate as both an encryption-meeting software company and a notary service provider. Louisiana’s Secretary of State has approved them as only a Technology Software Provider.  Unlike other states, Louisiana has restrictions on which documents may be notarized through online services. These companies employ notaries that are not commissioned in Louisiana and are not aware of Louisiana’s Notarial laws and restrictions.  While all states that utilize remote notarial acts accept Louisiana Commissioned Notary work the case is not vice versa. Document’s notarized without a Louisiana commissioned notary to be utilized in our state may not be enforceable or admissible in a court of law.

For example, you're selling your vehicle and use just any notary service provider online. Then later when the buyer is attempting to register the vehicle or even worse is in an accident, it’s discovered that a bill of sale cannot be executed in Louisiana with a remote online notary. Your bill of sale is not valid and you still own the vehicle! This could cause liability issues, owed taxes, auto insurance to increases, or a possible lawsuit. If you had used a Louisiana notary, all of these could have been avoided.

Can I get any document notarized remotely?

No, some documents may not be executed online due to State law restrictions. This restriction applies to any document which must be executed by authentic act (a.k.a with witnesses) to be valid. These restricted documents include any transfer of property, bill of sale (cars, trucks, ATV's, boats, trailers, property, etc), Power of Attorneys, Donations, Mortgages, and Matrimonial documents.

What if I already signed the document, can I schedule the appointment anyway and have the Notary sign?

No,  all signing parties must execute the document in front of the Notary during the recorded appointment.

What is the difference between a Remote Notary and a Mobile Notary?

A Mobile Notary is present in the same room as you and may provide any notary service needed. A Remote or Online Notary provides an in-person notary service through a live virtual meeting utilizing an electronic signature and encryption software which is more time efficient.

Can E-Sign & Seal Notary Service execute documents that are to be filed in other states?

Yes! E-Sign & Seal uses the most widely government approved Technical Provider.  While most states have adopted into law online notarization there are a few that have not fully implemented the regulation procedures to implement the process. Scroll down for the map of approved states.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Email Joanthenotary@outlook.com. Be sure to send the request prior to 1 hour before the appointment. Cancellation fee applies if you or other sigining parties skip your appointment or cancel to close to the appointment.
